It probably started a long time ago in a small Ohio farming community with a little girl who loved to adorn her grandmother's apron while learning to make pies and pastries at her side. Then, along came her preadolescent years with all the learning mishaps that could possibly happen in a kitchen. One of which even brought the fire department to her door due to black smoke pouring out of the exhaust vent into the neighbor's yard. Yikes! During her teenage years, she continued to develop her culinary skills by working as a cook's assistant at a YMCA camp.
After completing her primary education, she decided to further her culinary skills by obtaining a degree in hotel and restaurant management. It was during her college years that she participated in various culinary art shows and with the help of friends, catered special events, parties and weddings for extra money. After graduating Salutatorian of her class, she started working in the food service industry and ended up interfacing with everybody from short order cooks to patisserie chefs.
Then, a cataclysmic car accident caused by a careless driver almost took her life. Two years later, after her recovery, she married and put her career on hold in order to care for her new family and support her husband's endeavors. Her busy life never seemed to allow enough time to return to her love of culinary art.
One day, a panicky friend called to ask her if she had any ideas for making a fancy dessert quickly as unexpected guests were coming and she had just gotten home from work. Voilà! She realized that many of today's busy homemakers simply don't have the time or maybe even the skill that's necessary to create these types of specialty desserts even though they would love to serve them to their family, friends and guests. She wondered, why couldn't the proven techniques that she had learned to use over the years and that are commonly used throughout the food service industry be used to provide a quality line of dessert products for today's homemakers. These creations would employ the same secrets and techniques that are used by many of today's professionals in order to produce unique desserts with outstanding results quickly and easily! Thus, the concept for Nif-t-Foods was born.
I think you'll find our unique system of desserts, recipes and informational tips capable of producing outstanding results! Now, it's no longer necessary to just dream about serving these wonderful dishes to your family and friends. You really can make it happen! I know all of this to be true as I've been married to this “Shortcake” for twenty-five years and have the experiences to prove it !!! ;-)
